Samdruptse is one of South Sikkim's most iconic spiritual landmarks, located about 7 km from Namchi. The name Samdruptse means "Wish-Fulfilling Hill", and it is revered as a sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site. The hill is best known for its 135-foot (41-meter) statue of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), one of the tallest statues of the Buddhist master in the world. Unveiled in 2004, the magnificent copper statue sits atop Samdruptse Hill and can be seen from several parts of Namchi.
